چکیده

Abstract Aim Post-operative pain was a recurrent issue reported at the dressing clinic following local anaesthetic (LA) hand surgery our regional centre. In absence of protocol, we aimed to standardise advice and analgesic prescriptions LA observe whether could be more optimally managed. Method cycle 1, day 1 7 scores were recorded for ∼30 patients using validated visual analogue scale (VAS). 2, an analgesia leaflet standardised prescription provided, same data points collected, with addition 0 (evening surgery). Results Cycle revealed generally high (M = 5.91/10). Day considered acceptable 2.16). There no significant difference in when compared fracture fixation soft tissue (p= 0.64), prescribed codeine versus those paracetamol alone (p 0.53). Most provided did not co-administer ibuprofen (n 14, 70%). A large proportion only taking PRN rather than regularly prophylaxis (n=12, 43.75%). all 30–60mg QDS leaflet. (3.43) significantly lower 2 < .00001). Conclusions Codeine, taken correctly can effective managing post-operatively patients. Information sheets means facilitating this.

Decades of research have demonstrated that a region of the right fusiform gyrus (FG) and right posterior superior temporal sulcus (pSTS) responds preferentially to static faces and biological motion, respectively. Despite this view, both regions activate in response to both stimulus categories and to a range of other stimuli, such as goal-directed actions, suggesting that these regions respond ...

Optimized Anesthesia and Analgesic Regimen for Robotic Colorectal Surgery

Robotic surgery has recently been introduced for colorectal procedures. In robotic colorectal surgery, only a few low-powered randomized studies have been performed, demonstrating equal short-term surgical outcomes. Robotic surgery offers specific technical advantages; however, studies have documented increased operative time and economic costs compared to both open and laparoscopic colorectal ...

Assessing the anaesthetic and analgesic effects of electroacupuncture in patients undergoing craniotomy.

We read with great interest the recent article by Liu et al assessing intraoperative anaesthetic and postoperative analgesic effects of multipoint transcutaneous electrical acupuncture point stimulation (TEAS) in patients undergoing supratentorial craniotomy under total intravenous anaesthesia with propofol and sufentanil. The authors measured sufentanil target plasma concentrations at several ...
